BANGALORE: The city-based alcoholic beverages manufacturer United Spirits Limted, has acquired a 41.54% stake in Sovereign Distilleries Ltd., a Hyderabad-based local producer of extra-neutral alcohol. The deal was pegged at Rs 35 million.
With a capacity to produce 180 kiloliters of alcohol per day(KLPD), Sovereign Distilleries produces extra neutral alcohol (ENA) using both molasses and grain.
The said acquisition will help United Spirits to increase its self-sufficiency of its planned liquid requirements. The company eyes volume of 200 million cases in the next 5 years.
United Spirits Limited is engaged in the manufacture, purchase, and sale of alcoholic beverages worldwide. The company primarily produces scotch, whisky, wines, vodka, rum, and brandy. Its principal brands include Dalmore, Jura, Whyte & Mackay, Black Dog, Antiquity, Signature, Royal Challenge, McDowell’s No. 1, Celebration Rum, Bouvet Ladubay, Pinky, Romanov, White Mischief, and Four Seasons.
