BANGALORE: The Chairman of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Nandan Nilekani and his wife Rohini Nilekani, have announced a $11 million gift to the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) so as to assist its School of Environment and Sustainability.
The Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS), is the country's first institute which is being developed to look into urban affairs exclusively.
According to their joint statement, “IIHS is at the convergence of both our interests in education, urbanisation and sustainability. We are excited about contributing to an institution which will help people engage with new challenges in an innovative and interdisciplinary manner.”
Team leaders such as HDFC's Deepak Satwalekar, Jamshyd Godrej and Vijay Kelkar, have initiated the eastablishment of IIHS and Mr Nilekani is also part of the team.
