NEW DELHI: As per the information, the centre is in plans to develop two new high-level authorities who will be working on the growth of hybrid as well as electric vehicles across the country. Both the authorities would be set up in a week of time.
At present, both the electric and hybrid vehicles are chiefly dependent on imports for their required amount of fuel. One of the authorities would be lead by Praful Patel, Heavy Industries Minister, called National Council for Electric Mobility (NCEM). On the other hand, the other body would be termed National Board for Electric Mobility (NBEM) which would be operating at an executive level.
Ambuj Sharma, Joint Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry, recently issued a statement assuring that both the authority bodies would be formalized in another week of time with joint effort as the cabinet has already given its green signal for the committees. The statement was issued by him as a part of his speech at the event conducted by the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRIP).
