NEW DELHI: Telecom operators in India added 4.73-million new mobile phone users during June 2012, which strengthened the telephone subscriber base in India to 965.52 million, said Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
After this addition, the overall mobile phone user base in India was at 934.09 million at the end of June and the landline users stood at 31.43 million, according to the TRAI data.
The net teledensity (telephones per 100 people) in the country touched 76.99% during June.
Bharti Airtel successfully added the most subscribers at more than 2 million, which took its subscriber base to 187.3 million during June-end.
Vodafone had second highest addition at 1.22-million users in June, which took its user base to 153.7 million.
Tata Teleservices lost nearly 1.31 million users during the month under review, which cut its user base down to 64.87 million till June 30, 2012.
Idea Cellular added 1.19 million new users and Aircel added 0.48 million, which enhanced the subscriber base to 117.1 million and 64.87 million, respectively.
