MUMBAI: Tata Motors has posted 7% fall in sales in April 2012 to 60,086 units as compared to the same month last year.
In the same month last year, it had posted 7% slip in passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market to 23,658 units as against 25,436 units during April 2011, said Tata Motors in a statement.
Moreover, the sales of small car Nano declined 20% to reach 8,028 units in April as compared to 10,012 units in the same month in 2011. The 'Indica' range posted sales of 6,913 units, witnessing 63%.
The 'Indigo' family with sales of 3,669 units saw decline of 31%. The 'Sumo', 'Safari' and 'Aria' models accounted for sales of 4,048 units, witnessing 5% rise.
Jaguar Land Rover sales in India has maintained upward trend. In the commercial vehicles segment, Tata Motors posted 6% slip in domestic sales during April to 34,647 units as against 36,738 units during the same month a year-ago.
The overall exports in April also fell by 35% to 2,781 vehicles.
