Tamil Nadu govt unveils housing scheme for police personnel

CHENNAI: State Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has unveiled a housing scheme for police personnel. It is part of the state government's decision to offer dwelling units to all uniformed personnel.
 
While laying the foundation stone for development of 2,673 multi-storeyed dwelling units under the first phase of 'Own Your House' scheme at Melakottaiyoor in Kancheepuram district, Jayalalithaa stated that the scheme will be ensuring every uniformed personnel resided in their own house either during service or post retirement.
 
Out of the 1,12,363 police personnel in Tamil Nadu, housing facility had been offered to 50,424.
 
Moreover, 7,526 dwelling units are undergoing construction.
