South African Airways announces addition to Johannesburg-Mumbai frequency

MUMBAI: South African Airways (SAA) has announced an addition to its existing Johannesburg-Mumbai frequency commencing from June 16, 2012, offering five days a week service.

The carrier has decided to add further frequency on account of stronger demand on this route. The airline is offering a total of six flights per week from August 21, 2012.

Besides the four flights a week - on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, the airline will be operating an additional Sunday flight from June 16, 2012. South African Airways will fly Airbus A330-200 on the India-South Africa sector, offering 186 economy and 36 business class seats.

SAA will operate ten flights a week from Johannesburg to São Paulo and three flights a week to Buenos Aires, the airline provides the shortest travel time between India and South America.

The flying time from Mumbai to Buenos Aires is 22 hours and 35 minutes, the only carrier with this short flying time.
