Sensex dips 0.2% in early trade today on losses of Reliance, ITC, HDFC

MUMBAI: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSEĀ­) Sensex opens lower by 0.2 per cent in early trade today, weighed by the losses in Reliance Industries Limited, ITC and HDFC Bank.

The shares of Wipro Ltd were trading higher by 2 per cent at Rs 381.55 after reporting the strong a growth in second quarter ended September 2011as the company reported a consolidated net profit to Rs 1,300.9 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2011.

However, the shares of Maruti Suzuki were down by around 4 per cent in opening trade after the car maker registered a fall of 59.81 per cent in September 2011 quarter net profit at Rs 240.44 crore on the back of production loss at Manesar because of labour unrest.

At 9:19 AM, the 30-share BSE index was trading lower by 0.3 per cent at 17,733.16 points on the losses in Reliance Industries Ltd (down 0.6%), ITC (down 0.7%) and HDFC Bank (up 0.9%).

In the similar fashion, the broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) index was down by 0.4 per cent to 5,337.
