NEW DELHI: Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has cut the price of galvanized corrugated (GC) sheets by Rs 600-3,000 per tonne this month. The major reason behind the slashes is due to break in demand. The price of GC sheets (0.63 mm) has been get down in the region of Bangalore from Rs 60,200 a tonne in the month of May to Rs 57,200 per tonne in June.
Galvanized Corrugated Sheets are usually used for roofing, industrial sheds, panelling, automobile bodies and household boxes as well. SAIL basically sells all its GC sheets, manufactured at Bokaro Steel Plant (BSP), under the leading name of "SAIL Jyoti".
GC sheets are perfectly coated with zinc metal and this entire process is known as galvanizing. These high quality sheets are obtained from corrugating of GP (Galvanised Plain) sheets in corrugating machines. SAIL also produces GC sheets at its Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). There is a different between the prices of GC sheets manufactured in this plant from those which are produced in BSP.
