SHIMLA: The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Rawalpindi Chamber of Pakistan with the aim to strengthen bilateral trade and also market joint ventures (JVs).
PHD Chamber President Sandip Somany has stated that the collaboration would play pivotal role in boosting relations between India and Pakistan and also taking them forward. The business communities of both the nations are holding deliberations to boost ties and this MoU is towards strengthening partnership among the business community, entrepreneur community of both the nations.
PHD Chamber Regional Director Dalip Sharma stated that the MoU aims to lure investments and trade opportunities from both the nations apart from strengthening mutual trust, patience and also building transparency.
Meanwhile, at a mega mart, which is an exhibition coinciding with the conclave at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex here, has witnessed the participation of nearly 40 artisans and craftsmen from Pakistan, apart from domestic players.
The exhibitors from Pakistan showcased products such as garments, footwear, handicrafts, dry fruits, gems and stones, onyx marble artifacts, kitchenware, furniture, decorative items Indian and Pakistani traders see major potential for commerce and trade between the two countries.
Vice President of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Iqbal Ahmed noted that such events would be beneficial for the bilateral relations.
