SRINAGAR: India is slated to supply 500-megawatts (MW) power to Pakistan for which transmission lines will be laid, said Water Resources Secretary Dhruv Vijay Singh. This statement has come at the Seventh Hydro Power Convention here.
Singh said, “Pakistan has asked us for power, so we have decided to supply 500 megawatts to them immediately. We have power and they are in need. They asked us politely, we said sure. We said we will make transmission lines and you pay us international rates.”
he also said that the construction of new hydro power projects have been witnessing clearance issues from the Union Environment Ministry along with opposition from Pakistani government.
