Nov sales of Maruti Suzuki jumps by 12.45%

Despite slowdown wage boost trend gaining momentum in India's auto market

NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) witnessed a increase of 12.45 per cent in its total sales at 1,03,200 units in November. In the same month previous year, the company had sold 91,772 units.

Domestic sales stood at 90,882 units compared with 82,870 units, registering a rise of 9.67 per cent. Exports rose 38.37 per cent to 12,318 units from 8,902 units.

Total passenger car sales in the domestic market appreciated 2.35 per cent to 74,793 units from 73,078 units in the same month of 2011.

However, sales of the company’s mini-segment cars, including M800, A-Star, Alto and WagonR, fell 5.76 per cent to 36,679 units from 38,921 units.

In the compact segment (comprising the Estilo, Swift and Ritz models), Maruti Suzuki saw a 7.63 per cent rise in sales to 23,849 units from 22,159 units.

In the month under review, the sales of the DZiRE model increased by 29.79 per cent to 13,502 units from 10,403 units in the same month last year.

However, mid-sized sedan SX4 sales slipped 51.71 per cent to 692 units from 1,433 units. Luxury sedan Kizashi witnessed a drop of 56.17 per cent in sales at 71 units against 162 units in the year-ago period.
