Net direct tax collections in India rose by 28.15% in Apr-Aug period

NEW DELHI: The gross direct tax collections in the April-August period of the the current fiscal rose by 6.51% to Rs 1,64,413 crore as compared to Rs 1,54,361 crore during the same period last year. The gross collection of corporate taxes witnessed 0.15% rise and was at Rs 96,738 crore in the April-August period as compared to Rs 96,597 crore during the same period last year.

 

The gross collection of personal income tax jumped by 17.09% to Rs 67,420 crore as compared to Rs 57.582 crore during the same period last year. The overall direct tax collections rose by 28.15% and touched Rs 1,23,969 crore as against Rs 96,738 crore in the same period in the last fiscal.

 

 

Moreover, the rise in wealth tax stood at 40.63% and was at Rs.225 crore as compared to Rs 160 crore in the same period last year.
