MUMBAI: The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRC) has inked the contract pact with Independent Engineer, a joint venture company consisting of Ineco (Spain), Prointec (Spain) & Feedback Venture Private Limited. This contract is for the metro line – II i.e Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd Corridor on January 28, 2011.
Works for this line may start from April as the topography survey and geo-technical investigations have been completed. Mr SVR Srinivas, MD of MMRC and Additional Metropolitan Commissioner, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) said, “This is an important milestone in development of the Metro Corridor. This would give a required push to the project which has been envisaged as an important feeder system connecting the western suburbs with the eastern suburbs.”
According to the project plan, the corridor would have total length of 31.871 km. The route will be elevated with total 27 stations. The total cost of project is estimated at Rs 7660 crore.
