MUMBAI: India's prominent auto manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has posted 25% rise in sales to 47,001 units during March. It is the highest ever monthly sales figure in the history of the auto maker.
The firm had sold 37,522 units during the corresponding month during 2011, said M&M in a statement. In the domestic market, the firm has witnessed 25% surge in sales to 44,342 units as against 35,488 units in the year-ago period.
The overall sales of passenger vehicles, consisting of Scorpio, XUV500, Xylo, Bolero and Verito, was at 23,020 units last month as compared to 17,320 units during March last year, witnessing growth of 33%.
The firm has also said that the sales of its three-wheelers stood at 5,089 units as compare to 5,769 units during the same month last year. The sales of the firm's Gio and Maxximo mini-trucks and other four-wheeler commercial vehicles rose to 14,714 units against 11,520 units in the year-ago period.
M&M's exports rose to 2,659 units in the month as compared to 2,034 units during March 2011. Pravin Shah, M&M Chief Executive (Automotive Division) said, “We are happy to have achieved a growth of 28 per cent in 2011-12 given the pressures the auto industry is facing. All our brands have done well this year and we hope to create excitement in the market during FY 2013 with the addition of new products in our portfolio.”
