Lupin identifies cancer drugs as focal point for Japanese market

NEW DELHI: Lupin is looking forward to make its entry into the Japanese cancer drug market in the wake of expected shortage of ample cancer drugs in the country. A recent study has revealed that the Japanese drug market can exhaust soon with as many as $2 billion patents on cancer related medical estimated to expire in the next five years.
 

I'rom Pharmaceuticals and Kyowa Pharmaceuticals are the two wholly-owned auxiliaries of Lupin in Japan and with these, Lupin has developed seven to eight oncology drugs through co-development and in-licensing.

 

The company is all set to open an exclusive packaging plant in Sanda for oncology products. As far as manufacturing is concerned, the plan is active and very soon Lupin might set up a manufacturing unit in Japan.

 

For the existing financial year, Lupin is targeting sales of around $250 millions that could double over in the next five years.
