Lupin hopes to raise sales in Japan to $500 mn

MUMBAI: Pharma player Lupin is aiming to raise the sales level in Japan to reach $500 million (more than Rs 2,600 crore) during the upcoming five years with the help of strengthened market penetration.
 
The drug major enjoys presence in Japan via two wholly-owned arms - Kyowa Pharmaceutical Industry and I'rom Pharmaceuticals - is hoping to sales of $250 million (more than Rs 1,300 crore) from India during this financial year.
 
With the aim to attain its desired growth in the Japanese market, the firm is expected to consider selective purchases.

In the year ended March 31, 2012, Kyowa registered revenues worth Rs 860.7 crore. The firm had bought I'rom Pharmaceuticals last year.
