Karnataka govt to sell generic drugs at discounted rates

BANGALORE: The state government will be selling generic drugs at discounted rates by starting generic drug stores in all hospitals that fall under the jurisdiction of the Medical Education Department to help the poor people of Karnataka.

The Department in partnership with the Karnataka State Co-operative Consumer Federation Ltd would establish Janata Bazaar Generic Drug Stores in hospitals and then sell medicines at 50% discount prices.

Medical Education Minister SA Ramdas stated that state Chief Minister DV Sadnanda Gowda would be inaugurating the first Janata Bazaar Generic Drug Store tomorrow.

Moreover, the stores would be providing 50% discount on MRP for branded drugs, surgical, essential drugs and also orthopedic implants.
