NEW DELHI: Italy has displayed keen interest to invest in the Indian apparel and textile industry. It will be organising a three-day 'Expo Riva Schuh Fair' in India from June 5, according to Italian Trade Commissioner Erica Di Giovancarlo.

Italy is considered as the third-largest economy in Europe and it is considering expansion in the Indian market. As Italy is considered as a prominent fashion designing hub, Indian designs are becoming more famous in the international markets.

The expo would be a platform for the Italian entrepreneurs to display different high-end items, consisting apparels, belts, bags, footwear and leather accessories to meet the demands of Indian customers.

Italy is aiming at stronger trade relations with India in the field of fashion and textiles. The bilateral trade between both the nations reached $ 8.8 billion in 2010-11.
