NEW DELHI: Low-cost airline IndiGo carried maximum number of passengers apart from having the strongest market share during August. India has seen small rise of 0.5% in the overall count of passengers carried in January-August this year as against the same period last year.
Reports suggest that IndiGo carried 12.05 lakh passengers in August, Jet Airways-JetLite combined flew 11.01 lakh passengers, SpiceJet 8.07 lakh, Air India 7.94 lakh and GoAir 3.24 lakh.

The worst performance was put up by crisis-hit Kingfisher Airlines which carried just 1.38 lakh passengers in August.
In regard to market share, IndiGo bagged first place with 27.6%, Jet-JetLite combine at 25.2%, SpiceJet at 18.5%, Air India at 18.2%, GoAir at 7.4% and Kingfisher with 3.2%.
Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh displayed concern over Air India's poor performance and directed the national carrier to chalk out a plan to strengthen its share.
