By Songbedna Bauri:Union Minister for Commerce, Industry & Textiles Anand Sharma is slated to lead a high-level ministerial delegation to Sri Lanka to strengthen bilateral ties between both the neighbours. This visit will be coinciding with the 'India Show', which will be organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry and the High Commission of India in Colombo, slated to be held from August 3-5, 2012.
The event is supported by the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF) and the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC).
Sharma’s Sri Lanka holds great significance in regard to the strengthened economic and strategic cooperation between the India and Sri Lanka. Moreover, his visit will be establishing the tone for raising the bilateral trade level to $ 9 billion by 2017 from present levels of $ 4.5 billion. It will also push the dialogue process for early conclusion of Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
The Indian Minister will be meeting high profile politicians such as Sri Lankan President, Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development; Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Industry & Commerce; Prof GL Peiris, Minister of External Affairs.
The India Show will display Indian innovations and manufacturing prowess on series of products and services which consists of different sectors such as automobile, engineering, infrastructure, tourism, food processing, information & communication technology, financial services, pharmaceuticals, handloom and handicrafts, education.
