Hitachi plant in Ahmedabad gutted in major fire

AHMEDABAD: A major fire broke out here today morning in a Hitachi facility. The plant supplies parts to passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki yesterday morning. However, no injuries have been reported so far.

The fire gutted about 60-70 per cent of the plant that is located in Karan Nagar area. The loss is pegged to be at around Rs 100 crore.

As per the eye witnesses, the flames could be seen more than 6 kilometres away. Twenty fire engines rushed to the spot from three different locations.

So far, there have been no reports of casualties.
