KOLKATA: Haldia Energy Limited has awarded an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract worth Rs 1195 crore to Punj Lloyd Group for thermal power project. This 2x300 megawatt power plant, which is scheduled to start by 2014, will increase power supply in the city and its suburb areas.
The contract order for the Haldia power project involves detailed engineering of balance of plant (BOP), electrical, mechanical and instrumentation facilities. “Power is one of the key stimuli for rapid economic growth in the country. With this second project from CESC, Punj Lloyd will make significant addition to the power generation capacity in Kolkata and will help CESC to offer reliable power to the city's inhabitants and further fillip the economic development in the region,” said Shivendra Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, Energy South Asia, Punj Lloyd, after winning the contract.
The company is offering construction services for both thermal and nuclear power plants. With the contract of Haldia power plant, total value of the unexecuted orders for the Group has gone up to Rs 25133 crore.
