NEW DELHI: The government has nominated HDFC's chairman Deepak Parekh to Competition Commission's Eminent Persons Advisory Group, which discusses the anti-trust regulator on good global practices and other issues.
Apart from Parekh, eminent authors Gurcharan Das and Rama Bijapurkar have also been nominated as members of the EPAG of the Commission.
In a release, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs said in a release that this group of wise persons has been set up to give broad inputs and advice on larger issues impacting markets and competition, good international practices and improved advocacy to the Commission.
“The group has been constituted in a manner that CCI could benefit from the advice of eminent persons representing a wide arena from the Corporate Sector, Academics, NGOs, Regulatory Authorities, Reserve Bank of India, CAG, and Banking & Social Activist etc,” the release said.
Other prominent personalities on the ten-member panel include former CAG VN Kaul, Biocon CMD Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, former RBI Deputy Governor Rakesh Mohan and NGO activist Rohini Nilekani.
