PANAJI: The state government has unveiled Griha Aadhar scheme yesterday, which will offer financial aid worth Rs 1,000 per month to women who run the household. The scheme has been mainly present to help housewives from the middle, lower-middle and poor sections of society since India's food inflation is expected to remain high.
State Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar stated that the scheme was unveiled as it was part of an election promise. Goa made a budgetary provision worth 150 crore for the present fiscal for this scheme. The disursement of applications is slated to start from October 24 at the taluka offices of the directorate of women and child development.
The CM also added that the scheme is meant for married women who stay in Goa for the past 15 years and whose gross income, including that of the husband, does not cross 3 lakh per annum. The women who are eligible for this scheme comprises of widows and divorcees, whose gross income does not cross 1.5 lakh per annum.
He also said that the woman's husband should not bag benefits under the Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS).
