PUNE: GE India has decided to infuse close to Rs 1,100 crore ($200 million) to establish a new production unit here for the development of products for the energy sector.
A statement from GE India reads, “GE India announced that its new manufacturing unit would develop localised products and solutions for the energy sector in its first phase of operation commencing in 2013.”
The Maharashtra government and GE inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for this plant. The company has got a wind turbine assembly unit here.
The site will offer help in assembly and production support for any GE business that requires domestic manufacturing capability in the country.
