BANGALORE: General Electric (GE) has announced its association with Chinese company XD Electric group with an motive to tap China's fast growing market for electric transmission and distribution (T&D) and grid automation solutions.
Under the engagement, GE has given its accord to purchase a 15 per cent stake in XD and will appoint a representative to the XD board of directors.
The joint venture unites GE's grid automation and service capabilities with XD Electric's broad portfolio of primary power equipment and offers localised grid automation solutions to Chinese customers.
The operations under the partnership are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2012 as the formation of the partnership is pursuant to regulatory approvals.
