TOKYO: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. a leader in the car making industry in terms of sale figures, has announced procurement of land for the fourth plant under its umbrella in India. The land has been purchased in Gujarat’s Mehsana.

This could enhance the capacity for production by atleast 3 million cars annually. The SME sector could benefit from this move.

The new plant could initiate operations from 2017 and could contribute to expansion in the export sector too. Maruti Suzuki said in a report that it would target starting production from 2015.
