CHENNAI: Ford Motor Company, an auto maker, is seeing rise in demand for diesel cars in India after the recent surge in the petrol prices.
Nigel E. Wark, Executive Director (Marketing) Sales and Service, said, “We have already witnessed a swing for diesel cars in India. Nationally the demand is 70 percent for diesel cars and 30 percent for petrol cars. Between every 12-18 months, a new car will be launched in India. The first new product will be a new Global Fiesta.”
The company has decided to emphasis on the unveiling of diesel version of new cars in the upcoming future. The auto manufacturer will be unveiling eight-new models by the middle of the decade in India.
The passenger car sector in India will be witnessing 17% growth rate this year.
