NEW DELHI: India's synthetic rubber consumption has surged by 8% to 33,925 tonnes during February, 2011 and the domestic supply has climbed by nearly 10% to 9,634 tonnes during the same period, stated the Rubber Board.
Synthetic rubber demand was at 31,440 tonnes and the production stood at 8,768 tonnes in the reporting period of the previous year.
The consumption of synthetic rubber have fallen by nearly 4% in February this year as compared to the demand in January, 2011, which touched 35,260 tonnes. The production in the period also slipped to 2.28% from 9,859 tonnes in January, 2011.
Synthetic rubber is majorly used in the manufacture of tyres in India.
