FDASmart conference focuses on Indian pharma industry

MUMBAI: One-day conference of FDASmart Incorporation remained focused on the recent trends including merger and acquisition deals of Indian pharmaceutical and biotech companies with foreign companies.

The keynote speaker of the event was Ranjit Shahani, Managing Director of Novartis India, who focused his speech on the pharmaceutical industry from business point of view. He presented the whole industry like a multinational organisation. Another prominent speaker was Sumit Ghoshal, Deputy Editor of Business India, who spoke about the inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the pharma industry. On the other hand, Dr Milind Antani, Head of Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences-Nishith Desai Associates, thrown light on the legal and intellectual property issues involved into the international deals.

Chris Barnett, a London-based qualified person, who has a long experience of working in India, focused his speech on the evolution of Indian pharma industry. Vishal Gandhi, Vice President and Head of Life Sciences Banking-YES Bank, presented the investment scope and financial options available in the industry. Likewise, other speakers took different aspects and presented their views related to the pharma industry of the country.
