NEW DELHI: WalMart, a multinational retailer corporation, has been trying to influence WalMart US lawmakers since past four years to expedite their entry into the Indian market.
Since 2008, WalMart has spent approximately $25 million (about Rs 125 crore) on various contending activities like the enhanced market access for investment in India and discussions related to FDI in India, as mentioned in reports of lobbying disclosure filed by WalMart with the US Senate.
As per the retailer chain's lobbying disclosure reports, the firm has repeatedly contended for its entry to the lucrative Indian market, since 2008. And the firm has spent more than $3 million which is approximately Rs 18 crore on its various lobbying activities.
