PATNA: Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister, Bihar, has issued a statement showing anxiety on the effect climate change as well as global warming could produce on the challenge of ensuring food security.
The statement was issued by him at the launch of System of Rice Intensification (SRI), a new farming technique. The minister also paid special emphasis on developing better scientific farming techniques in order to outgrow the food production. "Water level is going down considerably, creating problem of water scarcity besides adversely affecting the irrigation potential," said Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister, Bihar.
In addition, the minister pointed out how eastern region of India still has unexplored potential to shot up the total output but lacking in want of proper technologies. "The entire world is undergoing this problem but India seems to be least bothered about it and not charting out long-term strategies to combat this challenge," said, Nitish Kumar. He also gave special mention to Jyoti Devi from Fatehpur block for showing huge improvement in barren land for production with SRI techniques.
