KOHIMA: The national capital is all set to host the 61st plenary of the North Eastern Council (NEC), a regional planning body under the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER), tomorrow.
The plenary will be attended by all governors and chief ministers of the Northeast and Sikkim, who are members of the council.
The scheduled meeting will consider the issues related to development of transport and communication, telecommunication, civil aviation, railways and other prominent sectors which are critical to the economic progress of the region.
The development of the region will be showcased by a special presentations by the Ministry of Railways, Road Transport and Highways and Civil Aviation in the plenary.
During the last financial year (2011-12), the NEC has released Rs 693 crore out of the total budget allocation of Rs 700 crore, accounting for more than 99 per cent release to the constituent states.
