NEW DELHI: As India is getting ready to witness substantive Union Cabinet reshuffle tomorrow, ministers have queued up at Prime Minister residence to submit their resignations. The resignations are expected to help PM take a free decision about changing the face of Cabinet, just ahead of the Lok Sabha polls slated to be held in 2014.
As
SM Krishna yesterday quit as Union External Affairs Minister yesterday, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni, Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahai and Minister of State Mahadev Khandela have also submitted their resignations today.
Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Mukul Wasnik has also put in his papers.
Senior leader Soni would enhance the presence of the organisation.
Krishna may be drafted for party work to his native state Karnatka for elections that are due in May next year. Krishna has been twice the Karnataka Chief Minister.
Reports suggest that Cabinet reshuffle may happen at about 11.30 am tomorrow before Singh leaves for Himachal Pradesh to address a poll rally.
It is rumoured that Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma may bag the external affairs portfolio.
