BANGALORE: Cognizant, a provider of information technology, consulting, and business process outsourcing services, is planning to expansion of its real estate construction program in the country. According to the expansion plan, Cognizant will be investing more than $500 mn through the end of 2014 for the expansion of its owned campus foothold with the addition of over 8 million square feet. It will have the capacity to house over 55,000 employees.
This real estate development program will be developing extra software development and training facilities in regions designated as Special Economic Zones in Indian cities such as Chennai, Pune, Coimbatore, and Kolkata. Moreover, it will also continue to actively lease additional facilities across India to meet its future staffing requirements.
Mr Gordon Coburn, chief financial and operating officer of Cognizant, said, “This current real estate expansion program is part of our ongoing strategy of investing in our people, processes, systems, and infrastructure to support our long-term growth. We will continue to evaluate opportunities for further construction expansion over the coming years.”
