PATNA: The state government is hoping that its demand made to central government to allot special category status would be addressed, said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Kumar said, “We fulfil three out of the five criteria laid down for according special category status to a state.”
The state's 13% growth rate has bagged appreciation along with acknowledgment from central government. The special category status would be helpful in getting private investment and investors would bag tax benefits. The special status will ensure that Centre makes less investment in the state and the surplus amount would be spend on the development work.
He requested Centre to establish an expert committee to look into the demand for giving special category status.
