BHUBANESWAR: The state government has bagged Rs 3.4-crore funding from central government to purchase 15-new city buses under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).
AN Jena, chairman of Bhubaneswar Puri Transport Services Limited (BPTSL), said, “Instead of large buses, we will procure small-sized vehicles for smooth movement on the streets. Earlier, we had sent the proposal for 30 large buses to the Centre. Fifteen buses will ply on Bhubaneswar-Puri-Konark route while five new vehicles will run between Bhubaneswar and Jatni.”
BPTSL is expected to strengthen the city bus service to Konark and Jatni within a time span of ten days.
