NEW DELHI: Centre has given nod to a recommendation for reimbursing freight on the disbursement of decontrolled phosphatic and potassic (P&K) fertilisers. The P&K fertilisers were brought under the Nutrient Based Subsidy (NBS) ambit as of April 1, 2010.
According to an official statement, “The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs ( CCEA) has approved the proposal of the Department of Fertilisers for reimbursement of freight for distribution of P&K fertilisers under NBS policy for the period from January 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012 and with effect from April 1, 2012 onwards.”
It will be ensuring equitable prices of P&K fertilisers across the country and hence, the Indian farmers will be benefiting from this move.
Before the NBS policy was implemented, P&K fertilisers producers were reimbursed according to the Uniform Freight Policy, which is in line with urea. This policy has been discontinued after NBS was implemented.
Between April 1, 2010 and December 12, 2010, freight reimbursements have been made as per the NBS policy.
