NEW DELHI: As Centre aims to train more and more teachers across India, the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) will be developing a framework for the new central programme for teachers' training.
CABE is currently the highest advisory body in education sector. In its 59th meeting yesterday, it decided to form a panel to create the 'framework and processes' for the National Mission on Teachers and Teaching, which was unveiled by Centre.
This committee will be headed by Minister of State for Education D Purandeswari. At the meeting, it came to the fore that quality of teaching is the point of emphasis during the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-17) to implement the right to education in a successful manner.
The National Mission on Teachers and Teaching stresses on giving quality training to teachers.
Meanwhile, Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal said, “It is ironic that you always talk about education of children. Here we are talking about teacher education. In other words, we have accepted the fact that our teaching communities are not as educated as they should be.”
