BANGALORE: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd's (BHEL) electronics division announced the commissioning of 5-MW eco-friendly grid connected solar power facility at Shivanasamudram near Mandya in Karnataka.
It is considered as the largest solar PV power plant executed by the state-run company for Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd (KPCL).
Moreover, BHEL will not only operate but also maintain the solar power plant for three years. This unit has been developed using Crystalline Silicon Photovoltaic (C-SI PV) technology. BHEL has until now commissioned 15 MW of solar power plants across India in the fiscal 2011-12.
BHEL's scope of work consisted of design, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the solar unit.
