NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel has forayed into a global pact with Opera Software. Now, the Airtel subscribers will be able to access customised version of Opera's Internet browser on their mobile phones. According to the pact, Airtel will be providing co-branded Opera Mini browsers to customers across India and South Asia.

Bharti Airtel President of Consumer Business K Srinivas said, “We are excited to bring a superior browsing platform to Airtel mobile customers across India and South Asia by leveraging Opera Mini's tried-and-tested set of solutions.”

Airtel has got more than 253-million customers across nations, consisting India, South Asia and Africa.
Opera Mini's unique proxy-server-based technology has the potential to compress data by almost 90% and also decline user's data transfer costs.

Opera Software CEO Lars Boilesen said, “Our primary drive is to provide the best user experience, no matter what device people use. There are millions of users with basic mobile phones instead of smartphones, and Opera Mini gives even the most basic phone a smartphone-like web experience.”
