BHUBANESHWAR: Vedanta Aluminium's refinery situated in Koraput district is witnessing bauxite scarcity, which is a significant raw material.
Vedanta Aluminium's MD S K Rungta said, “Yes, we are running out of raw material. The company is now unable to arrange bauxite from other states due to certain logistic problems.” He meet Chief Secretary B K Patnaik.
The facility was set up in bauxite- rich Koraput district due to the abundance of raw material.
From August 2007, the firm is running a 1 million tonnes per annum capacity refinery plant at Lanjigarh and it needs minimum 10,000 tonne of bauxite daily.
The company applied for 26 bauxite reserves in Orissa, but nothing got finalised. Till now, the firm has infused capital worth Rs 9,000 crore in the project.
