NEW DELHI: Commercial vehicles manufacturer AMW has announced its plans to introduce a new range of premium trucks by the end of this calender year in the segments like construction and mining. The move is aimed to drive up sales in a sluggish market.

AMW Managing Director & CEO Anirudh Bhuwalka said, “The premium range will have four truck models. These are going to be heavy duty tractors (trailers) catering to construction and mining segment.”

On the sidelines of the annual convention of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) here, he said that last year the company had launched 11 truck models.

The proposed launch of new trucks will come with higher horse power and better drivelines. However, he did not divulged the price range. The entire range of truck will be produced at the company's Bhuj facility.

At present, the market for premier trucks in the country is close to 2,000 trucks per annum.

In the last fiscal, ATW had posted a growth of 60 per cent and sold around 10,000 trucks.

In the current year, the company also plans to open another 10-12 dealerships. It has over 120 dealerships currently.
