BEIJING: Nearly four people have died and more than 100 others are injured in the 5.7-magnitude earthquake which jolted the remote mountainous area in southwest China yesterday.
Reports claim that three residents were killed in the county of Ninglang in Yunnan province and also another one was found dead in the neighbouring Yanyuan county in Sichuan province.
Until last night, 102 people were injured. Among them, 20 have been in serious conditions, said the Langcang county government.
The 5.7-magnitude quake hit the border of Yunnan and Sichuan provinces at 3:59 pm (local time) yesterday. Just two minutes later, it was followed by 3.3-magnitude aftershock.
The epicentre has been found at the border area between Ninglang and Yanyuan.
