GORAKHPUR (UP): Two more persons succumbed to encephalitis here, taking the death toll in the viral disease in eastern Uttar Pradesh to 448 in 2012.
The deceased were from Gorakhpur and Kushinagar, A K Pandey, additional director, Health, Gorakhpur Division, said.
With this, since January this year the total encephalitis admissions have increased to 2,972, of which 448 succumbed to the deadly disease.
At the BRD Medical College Hospital and adjoining district hospitals, close to 208 encephalitis patients are being treated.
