MADURAI: The 15 edition of Chamber Trade Fair has been kicked off here at the Tamukkam Ground and is scheduled from December 16 to January 2.
Being organised by the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the event is themed on 'Tourism our culture'.
The Chamber Trade Fair 2012 was inaugurated by Mr V Neethi Mohan, Chairman of Vaigai Group of Industries. Mr Mohan has also announced Rs 50-lakh donation towards the Tamil Nadu Chamber Foundation, for setting up a permanent trade centre in the city.
During the inaugural function, Mr S Rethinavelu, senior president of the Tamil Nadu Commerce and Industry, has also announced that the temple city will soon get an international connectivity as Sri Lankan Airways is willing to connect Madurai Airport to Colombo.
The development would enhance the tourism and industrial development of southern districts and will lead to considerable exports from the region.
Moreover, the Sri Lankan Airways has become the first multinational company to establish a stall in the Chamber Trade Fair.
