Ukhrul ambush kills 5 : Attack on poll officials

A day after Manipur wrapped up its first phase of Assembly elections peacefully, a militant ambush claimed five lives in Ukhrul district on Feb. 9.



Militants ambushed a poll party carrying electronic voting machines in Ukhrul, killing three CRPF jawans, an election official and a civilian. Another CRPF jawan was critically injured.



The United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has claimed responsibility for the attack.
