Tripura : Rift in INPT over showcause |

Serious discord has rent the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) over the showcause notice issued to veteran leader and chairman of the party’s advisory committee, Shyamacharan Tripura.
According to reports, the situation is such that unless the issue is sorted out soon, the party may be in for a vertical split.
Following a meeting of the central working committee (CWC) of the INPT, party president Bijay Kumar Hrangkhawl addressed the notice to the veteran leader. But soon after the news was printed, the rank and file of the party and leadership at the divisional committee level protested.
Sources in the INPT said 21 of the 22 divisional committees of the party reacted sharply to the decision and asked the central leaders not to visit areas outside Agartala.
Describing the CWC as a “den of wicked people”, the divisional committees have demanded its reconstitution and removal of the general secretary Rabindra Debbarma and president Bijay Kumar Hrangkhawl.
