Jigmi Y. Thinley, who has had close ties with India, has taken over as Bhutan’s first elected Prime Minister, a post he held twice under the monarchy. Thinley’s Druk Pheunsum Tshogpa [DPT] won a landslide victory in Bhutan’s first parliamentary elections held on March 24, winning all but two of the 47 seats.
